History
The Midwest Shoot-Out started out as a bi-annual event in June of 2004. The first Shoot-Out was a huge success with sixteen competitive teams traveling from Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia and other neighboring states. Phat Kapps (Nashville, Tn) turned in the best performance and took home the 1st place trophy and the $4000 prize money. Since then, we have had three more successful Shoot-Outs. Winners of those Shoot-Outs were Heads Da Bed from Indianapolis, In (Sept. 04), Headings Construction from Columbus, Oh (June 05), and New Beginning For Youth (sponsored by Jacquie's Market) from Columbus, Oh (Aug. 05).
The Midwest Shoot-Out Committee is extremely happy with the level of talent the teams have demonstrated in previous tournaments. In fact, not only did New Beginning For Youth win the Aug. 05 Midwest Shoot-Out, they were also the National Men's AAU Champions in Sacramento, Ca. (April 05) and the Independence Bank Pro-Am Champions in Owensboro, Ky. (July 05).
Today As of July 2006, the Midwest Shoot-Out will become an annual, instead of a bi-annual, event. This summer will also be the breakout year for the 2nd Annual Women's Tournament. The Women's division will consist of 12 competitive teams competing for a cash prize of $800. The Men's division will consist of 18 highly competitive teams competing for "The Best In The Midwest" title and cash prize up to $10,000. Most teams will have players with professional experience (NBA, CBA, Europe, Etc.), Pro Am experience, and or college experience. This year's Midwest Shoot-Out will be one of the most exciting basketball tournaments in history.
